Peter John Ochs, age 49, resident of Dallas, TX and Delavan, MN passed away at the family farm in Delavan February 25, 2020. A funeral service will be held at Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth, MN Sunday March 1st at 1 pm with Rev. Russ Jacobsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Sterling Cemetery in Amboy.
Peter was born May 5, 1970 in Owatonna, MN to Stephen and Mary Ochs. They later moved to Dallas, TX where he graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1988. In high school, he learned to speak French with a perfect French accent and did extremely well in all subjects. He then went on to Southern Methodist University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on sculpture. He worked at a local delicatessen to help pay for college. After college he worked at a Dallas Law Firm as a legal assistant. He was a very talented musician, playing the guitar, violin, piano and singing. Peter was also a talented sculptor, painter, welder and craftsman. He was great with his hands and always meticulous when working with them. Peter enjoyed creative baking and cooking for those in his life. He loved knitting yarn into wonderful gifts for his family, friends, and church community. He will be remembered not only for all his God given talents, but also for his kind, gentle heart, generosity, love for all animals, his inquisitive and brilliant mind and subtle sense of humor. He was always a welcoming, loving, easy person to be with. Unfortunately, Peter suffered from seizures the last 12 years of his life which prevented him from doing many things he loved and desired for his future. His family, faith, artistry and pets remained the most important things to him until the end.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Mary (Andrews) Ochs of Delavan and Stephen Ochs of Dallas, TX; Peter’s brother Adam J. Ochs and his wife Marya Woodruff Ochs of Milton, MA; his sister Tamera Koeder Macias and her husband Salvador Macias of Dallas, TX; and his nephews, Jeffrey Macias and Linden Ochs, and niece Juniper Ochs.
Peter is preceded in death by his grandparents Harvey and Elizabeth Andrews and Leo and Marie Ochs.
He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
