Mary Ann Toland, age 90 of Winnebago, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Crystal Seasons Living Center in Lake Crystal, MN. Memorial services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Hope United Methodist Church, Blue Earth with Pastor Godfrey Gakuru officiating. A time for visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Basey Cemetery, Winnebago.
Mary was born on April 4, 1935 in Winnebago to Maine and Mary Estella (Barr) Pruisner. She graduated from Huntley High School in 1953 and continued her education at Mankato Business College. On September 15, 1954, Mary married the love of her life, Newton Toland. The couple lived and farmed outside of Lake Crystal, raising three children, Robert, Ronald, and Kathleen. At that time, Mary worked at Miller Motors in Mankato. In early 60’s, the family moved to Winnebago, where they continued to farm. Mary was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Winnebago and later, Hope United Methodist Church in Blue Earth.
Mary loved traveling, especially visiting Arizona and Texas where she enjoyed spending winters. She was a talented knitter and crocheter. She also enjoyed playing cards and dining out, sharing laughter and stories with family and friends. Mary’s family was her greatest treasure and she cherished spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom she built a lot of precious memories.
Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Madge) Toland of Winnebago, Ronald (Linda) Toland of Winnebago, and Kathleen (John) Williams of Goodyear, AZ; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Newton Toland and grandson, Matthew Toland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to United Methodist Missions.
