Marjorie Alma Hill

May 26, 1933 — January 20, 2020

Marjorie Hill, age 86 of Winnebago passed away Monday January 20, 2020 at Parker Oaks. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 25 at 11AM at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago with Rev. Daren Barnett officiating. Visitation will be Friday January 24, the family will greet the public from 5-7PM and again one hour prior to the service, both at the church. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Winnebago.

Marjorie was born May 26, 1933 in Blue Earth. She was the youngest of three born to Alice and Walter Bauman, she grew up on a farm east of Blue Earth. Marjorie attended a one room schoolhouse through 8th grade and then graduated from Blue Earth High School. She also attended Mankato Business College for a year where she studied accounting.

Marge’s family loved music and Marge picked up her love of music from them, but God also gave her the “gift” of music. She played piano and had a strong alto voice where she sang solos in the high school choir and later at her church. While working at Stokely Van Camp in Blue Earth during high school, she met her future husband, Robert E. Hill of Winnebago. They were married November 28, 1952. They lived on several farms west of Winnebago where they raised their family. After 35 years, Marge was widowed, but thanks to her amazing sons and great neighbors, she was able to stay out on her farm for 30 more years, where she exceeded in lawn maintenance, as well as hosting and entertaining her grandchildren through the years. Her last year was spent at Parker Oaks, where years before she had worked as the activity director.

Marge will be remembered by those who knew her and loved her for her work ethic, her amazing gift of music, her stubbornness, her sense of humor and her faithfulness to God.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Kathleen (Mark) Peterson of Crown Point, IN; Douglas (Raeleen) Hill of Winnebago; David (Tammy) Hill of Welcome and Sharon (Craig) VonEhwegen of Terril, IA, her precious grandchildren Matthew, Leah, Tim, Michael, Tyler, Travis, Janna, Taylor and Andy, her sister-in-law Jan Hill of Argentina as well as nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers, and sister and brothers-in-law.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Parker Oaks for their attentiveness and loving care while Marjorie lived with them. Memorials may be given in Marjorie’s name to First Baptist Church, Parker Oaks Senior Living or Genesis Classical Academy.
