Juanita Hernandez

JUANITA HERNANDEZ, age 92, of Winnebago, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at the Mayo Hospital in Fairmont.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Winnebago, with Fr. Peter Klein officiating.  Burial will be in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Winnebago.  Visitation time will be from 5:00 7:00pm Monday, October 30, 2017, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago and 1 hour before the service at the church.  Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.comJuanita was born on August 29, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Simon and Josephine (Davalos) Mendiola.  She attended elementary school in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.  As a young woman, Juanita traveled to Montana for field work with her two brothers.  She then moved east to Winnebago to work at Stokley Van Camp.  Juanita loved listening to the radio, especially KBEW.  She always wanted to be informed and keep up with current events around the world.  Family and friends gave Juanita many gifts of dolls and stuffed animals, especially bears, which she cherished over the years.  Most of all, Juanita enjoyed spending time with her family.Juanita is survived by his daughter, Aurora Medellin of Mexico, son, Michael (Elaine) Hernandez of Wells, son, Sam Jr. (Karen) Hernandez of Winnebago, son, Santos Hernandez of Bakersfield, CA, daughter, Rosemary Howe of Fairmont, son, Simon (Dawn) Hernandez of Mapleton, daughter, Tammy Thomas of Wells, son, Steven (Heather) Hernandez of Winnebago, son, Sal (Jenny) Meyer of Winnebago, son, Victor (special friend Awanda) Hernandez of St. Cloud, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Nieves Mendiola of CA.Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Sr., brother, Nicholas, sisters, Castula and Natalia, grandson, Brent Hernandez, and granddaughter, Brianna Hernandez.
