Janis Gayle Jacobsen was born on July 5, 1947 in Winnebago to Roy and Hazel (Hesseldahl) Jacobsen.  She grew up in the Winnebago area attending school and graduating with the Winnebago High School class of 1965.   She went on to attend Hamline University in the Twin Cities.  She returned to Winnebago and married her high School sweetheart, Robert Kaduce on January 7, 1967. To this union were born two angels not meant for this earthly world.  Then they adopted Chris and Kelly to make their family that was always meant to be.

Jan’s life was filled with love.  She had a strong faith and love of God.  She was active in her ministry of music for the First United Methodists Church in Winnebago; playing the organ, leading the choir and children’s music, or serving on the prayer chain.  Her children and grandchildren brought her endless joy.  She loved watching Kelly perform and was proud of her husband Robert with whom she started the family business in Winnebago, Kaduce Plumbing and Heating.  Their son Chris and his wife Kim worked with the family business and have taken over Robert and Jan’s legacy.  Their success had been a great source of pride for her.

Jan was a generous, caring, thoughtful and strong-willed woman.  Her brothers and sisters were not only family, they were her best friends.  One to always spoil her family, she always made sure everyone had the same number of presents on Christmas, which were plentiful; she will be remembered for saying, “I couldn’t afford NOT to buy it!”

She loved her Twins, Timberwolves and Vikings, her time with the Winnebago Area Music Players, and proudly displayed Bob’s and her commemorative plaque received upon their induction to the Winnebago Hall of Fame in 2013.

Jan is survived by her best friend and husband, Robert of Winnebago; son Chris (Kim) Kaduce of Mankato; daughter Kelly (Lee) Gregory of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Dayna Sickler and Colin Gregory; brothers, Bradley (Anne) Jacobsen of Rogue River, OR and Brian (Carrie) Jacobsen) of Winnebago; sister Ann (David) Krause also of Winnebago; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her children, Maija Ann and baby girl Kaduce.
