Harriet Heppner, age 108, of Delavan, Minnesota died Friday July 25th, 2025 at Delavan, Minnesota. Services and burial will be held at West Lutheran Cemetery at rural Delavan, 11AM Tuesday July 29, 2025. Officiating will be her long-time friend Julie Johnson of St. Peter, Minnesota. Those attending, please bring a lawn chair. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home of Winnebago is in charge of the arrangements.
Harriet was born in Dwight, Illinois on June 5th, 1917, the daughter of Edward and Edith (Conrad) Hahn. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Delavan, Minnesota where she spent most of her life. Harriet enjoyed living in Delavan for most of her 108 years. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1935 and from St. Olaf College in 1939, and married Alvin Heppner on August 7th, 1941 at Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan. She enjoyed her family, flowers, music, reading and church activities. She also was very active in local Garden Clubs, Book Clubs, church activities and the American Legion Auxiliary. Harriet also enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii and to visit her children in California, Colorado and Vermont.
She is survived by her three children, Richard Heppner and his wife Diane Heppner (Claremont, California), Betsy Heppner (Boulder, Colorado) and Tom Heppner and his wife Gail Schwartz Heppner (Williston, Vermont), along with seven Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren. She is predeceased by her two sisters, Dorothy Hanna and Adrienne Staussenberg, and her husband Alvin. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, Arbor Day, and Lutheran World Relief.
