Emanuel "Emil" John Goraczkowski

AMBOY, MN – Emanuel “Emil” J. Goraczkowski, 92, of Amboy, MN, passed away from heart related issues and pneumonia on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN, with his family by his side.He was born on April 23, 1925 on a farm around the East Chain, MN area, the son of John and Frances (Tasarek) Goraczkowski.He married Leona “Onie” Mae Anderson in 1948 in Rose Creek, MN. They lived in Sterling Center, MN for a few years before moving to Amboy, MN. He is survived by his two sons, William (and wife, Ruth) Goraczkowski, of North Hampton, New Hampshire and Richard (and wife, Cheryl) of Amboy, MN; and his two daughters, Peggy Goraczkowski of Amboy, MN and Ruth (and husband, Steven) Jensen of Lake Crystal, MN; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Valeria Stauffer of Truman, MN, Alice Swiontek of Detroit Lakes, MN, Alvina Maine of Eden Prairie, MN and Pauline (and husband, Bill) Estep of Phoenix, Arizona. He is preceded in death by his wife, Leona "Onie"; parents; three brothers; one sister; and one special friend, Opal Mae Emery.WE REMEMBER: He loved doing mechanic work and outdoor projects such as mowing, trimming and keeping the lawn in perfect shape. He looked forward to his visits with his family from New Hampshire and seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his early mornings at the Cottage Café with his coffee drinking pals telling stories, some true, some maybe not? He also loved to tinker with small engines and fix whatever needed a little help. He also liked driving his Buick, whether it be somewhere to see family and friends, or going out to eat with neighbors.SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, MN and one hour prior to the services at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Vernon Center, MN. He is to be buried in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in East Chain, MN.
