Bernard Lou Espeland

Bernard Lou “Ben” Espeland passed away on May 28, 2025 at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Winnebago. A time for visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Thursday at Spencer Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Rosehill Cemetery, Winnebago.

Ben was born on July 8, 1932 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Lawrence and Minnie Espeland. He was a member of the United States Army. On July 17, 1954, Ben married Nancy Lee Roerig Winnebago. Together, the couple enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

Ben was self-employed and ran Espeland Van Service. Ben enjoyed camping with Nancy and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Douglas (Laurie Ann) Espeland of Wausau, WI and Daniel (Lori Ann) of Truman; 5 grandchildren, Loren, Jeremy, Jay, Rachel, and Casey Espeland; two great-grandsons, Gavin and Everett Espeland; and daughter in law, Margie Espeland of Gaylord.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, his parents, and son, David Espeland.
