N. Lucille Parish Delavan August 29, 2010 Nellie Lucille Parish, age 93 of Delavan passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at her residence. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010, at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Delavan with Rev. Durene Cornell officiating. Burial will be at Rice Lake Cemetery, rural Delavan. Visitation will be held at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago, on Thursday, September 2, 2010, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. www.spencerowen.com Lucille Parish was born on April 11, 1917, near Delavan to John Herbert and Lucinda (Wallace) Jenkins. She was one of eleven children. She was raised and educated in Delavan graduating from Delavan High School in 1936. Lucille attended Normal School in Blue Earth from 1938-1939, where she received her teaching certificate. Lucille also did housework for many families. On May 18, 1940, Lucille married Edward R. Parish at the Vernon Center Methodist Church. When Edward became manager / owner of the Delavan Telephone Company, she became a switch board operator and secretary / treasurer of the company. After Edward and she retired in 1983, they did a lot of traveling. She loved to bake, sew and did canning up to the age of 90. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and United Methodist Women. Memorials are preferred to the UHD hospice. Lucille is survived by her son, Ronald (Patricia) Parish of Stillwater; son, Robert (Barbara) Parish of Little Canada; daughter, Sandra (Dan) Bruzek of Ellendale; daughter, Karen (Edward) Kramer of Stacy; daughter, Gayle Parish of Delavan; sister, Florence Sorensen of Lake Crystal; sister, Mavis Schumacher of Morristown; brother, Norman (MaryAnn) Jenkins of Mapleton; brother-in-law, Harold Parish of Loon Lake, WA; sister-in-laws, Florence Williams of Modesto, CA; Margaret Rail of Spokane, WA; Collette Jenkins of Delavan; eight grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and seven brothers and sisters.
