Red Wing Paul Weir April 13, 2010 Paul Weir 78, of Red Wing, formerly of Vernon Center, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Woodland Heights Health Care Center in Inver Grove Heights. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Vernon Center with Father Brian Sutton officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery, Vernon Center. Visitation will start one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home, Winnebago is assisting the family with arrangements. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com Paul was born on August 31, 1931 at Vernon Center, the son of James and Jane (Neill) Weir. Paul was raised and educated in the Vernon Center area, graduating from Garden City High School in 1949, after High School Paul served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1953 during the Korean War. After the service Paul moved to Chicago working for United Airlines for over 35 years, he then retired to Red Wing where he enjoyed golfing and traveling. Paul is survived by: his brothers, David Weir of Vernon Center; Jerry Weir of Austin, TX; sisters, Rita and Ann Weir both of Inver Grove Heights; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Fischenich; brothers, Russell and Patrick Weir.
