Winnebago August 8, 2009 Lydia Louise Conrad Lydia Conrad, age 94, of Winnebago, died Saturday, August 08, 2009, at Parker Oaks in Winnebago. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 10:00 AM, at Grace United Methodist Church in Vernon Center. Burial will be in Vernon Center Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 PM at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and continuing one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Lydia was born on January 18, 1915, at Windom, Minnesota, the daughter of Ernest and Amelia (Prelipp) Yahnke. Lydia graduated from Garden City High School in 1931. She married Ervin Lawrence Conrad in 1933, and that loving marriage lasted 67 years. The two lived and farmed in Vernon Center and Amboy for many years. They enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas. Lydia was a long time member of the Grace United Methodist Church, was active in women’s organizations in church, was a choir member, and played the organ. Lydia is survived by her son Merlin (Delores) Conrad of Inver Grove Heights, daughter Carol (Bob) Sonnabend of Rochester, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and one grandson, Steve Sonnabend.
