Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Johnson, age 81, of Mankato,formerly of St Louis Park died Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Amboy, with Rev. Mike Goodwin & Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Amboy, MN. Visitation time will be from 4 7p.m. Wednesday at Spencer Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. She was born March 13, 1927, at Amboy, MN, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Mead) Stevens. Ruth was a graduate of Amboy High School in 1945. She was a clerical secretary and worked as the Northern Division Manager for Minneapolis Moline. Later she worked for Control Data in Minneapolis. On June 19 1950 she married Russell Johnson at Amboy. They resided in Minneapolis and later in St. Louis Park. Mr. Johnson preceded her in death in 1989. Ruth moved to Mankato in 2003. She was a charter member of Peace Presbyterian Church in St. Louis Park and choir.After moving to Mankato She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mankato.Ruth enjoyed fishing, spending time at her cabin and with her family. Ruth is survived by her Brothers,David(Iris)Stevens of Amboy, Kenneth(Eleanor) Stevens of Owatonna, her Nephews, Mike(Mary) Stevens Bob(Dara) Stevens, Bill(Sandy) Stevens, Doug Stevens, Mark(Julie) Stevens, John(Debra) Stevens, her Nieces, Ruth(Dan) Lemmon,Mary(Scott) Neumann, 16 Great Nieces & Nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one great niece(Marsha).
