Wilfred "Wil" Eugene Schneider

Wilfred "Wil" E. Schneider, 85, of Winnebago, MN, passed away quietly from cancer on August 15. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha (Mitteldorf) and Carl Schneider. He was a loving husband to Phyllis; devoted father of Laura Schneider and Cynthia (Brian) Rowe; brother of Ardene Schneider Neve, Delores Nelson, and Carolyn Linhart; step-father of Lori, William, and Scott Schreiber; and step-grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A literal genius and Renaissance man, Wil earned bachelor's degrees in math and fine arts and a master's degree in physics and math. Wil excelled at numerous endeavors and occupations, including engineering, math, physics, music, marquetry, wood carving, numerous fine arts, and more. A retired physicist/engineer/mathematician, college professor, and fine artist, Wil was active in many charitable activities, including his church, Kiwanis, and the Masons. Generous with his knowledge and talents, Wil embraced every opportunity to learn something new and inspired those around him to do the same. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 10:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Thomas Butler officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 5:00 7:00pm Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago, and 1 hour before the service at the church.
