DONNA L HICKS, age 71, of Delavan, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at Spencer Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, with Rev. William Sabol officiating. Burial will be in Barnard Valley View Cemetery, Good Thunder. Visitation time will be from 4:00 7:00pm Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Spencer Owen Funeral Home, 345 6th Ave SE in Winnebago and 1 hour before the service at the funeral home. Web tributes may be left at www.spencerowen.com She was born December 17, 1941, at Mankato, MN, the daughter of Lloyd Lien and Nora Willie. She graduated from Delavan High School in 1959. On July 25, 1961 she married George B. Hicks at Delavan. In which she stood by his side through his Navy career, retiring and moving home in 1979. She loved animals, knitting, crocheting, bowling, bird watching, and traveling, she was also an avid reader. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie (Jeff) Gerdts of Mapleton, her granddaughters Katie Gerdts of LaCrosse, WI & Kellie Gerdts of Mapleton, her cousins, Sue (Len) Sonnek of Delavan, Sharon Kiehm of Madison Lake, Mike Lien of Willmar, sisters-in-law Kay (Ambrose) Sonnek of Minnesota Lake, Wilma (Burt) Wolner of St. James, Murna (Ken) Johnson of Cambridge. She was preceded in death by her infant son William L. Hicks, husband George B. Hicks, mother Nora Wille, father Lloyd Lien, step mother Bernida Lien, in-laws William & Nellie Hicks, son in law Jason Petersen.
