John Henry Krengel Jr.

John Henry Krengel, Jr.,age 79, died January 6, 2012 at his home in Winnebago, MN. A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with Rev. Mark Wilms officiating. Interment will follow at the Rice Lake Cemetery near Delavan, MN. Online condolences can be made at www.spencerowen.com John was born to John and Olinda (Raveling) Krengel on June 14, 1932 in Waterbury Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. He attended rural school District 112 and graduated from Lamberton Public High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. On December 27, 1956, John married Margaret Carol Weir. A son Perry, and two daughters. Jo Ellen and Cindy were born to John and Margaret. They farmed in the Redwood County area before moving to Arizona in 1967 where John was employed as a dock supervisor for Shamrock Foods in Phoenix, AZ. They moved back to Minnesota in 2002 for their retirement years, residing in Winnebago. John is survived by his son, Perry of California, his daughter, Jo Ellen, her husband Trent O’Rourke, and granddaughters Sophie and Jovie of Easton, MN; his daughter Cindy Chavez and granddaughter, Devrie Chavez of New Mexico; a brother, Robert Krengel and wife, Audrey of Atwater, MN and numerous relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, parents, John and Olinda Krengel, his brother Richard and wife, Carol, John was never a stranger to anyone; he would literally give the shirt off his back to anyone, and did! He loved his family, especially his granddaughters, farming in MN and John Deere tractors. He was asked once why didn’t he farm in Arizona, his response was to say ‘he didn’t know the land like Minnesota.’
