Ardys G Scearcy

Ardys G. Scearcy 89 of Winnebago passed away Monday December 12, 2011 at the United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Visitation will be Friday December 16, 2011 from 5-7:00pm at the Spencer-Owen Funeral Home. A memorial service will be 10:30am Saturday December 17, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Durene Cornell officiating, interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Amboy in the spring of 2012. Online condolences can be made at spencerowen.com She was born January 18, 1922 in Winnebago the daughter of Dr. Einar and Olive (Olson) Thoreson. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1940. She worked as a waitress, sales person and at the Winnebago Times Newspaper. On November 29, 1942 she married G. Laverne Scearcy in Winnebago. To this union two children were born Susan Kay, and Thomas Laverne. She was a lifetime member at the First United Methodist Church, past president of the United Methodist Women, Winnebago American Legion Auxiliary lifetime member, member of several groups that made lap robes for the shut ins, 71 year member of Rebekah Lodge, Table Study Club, Riverside Aid – 3 bridge clubs, and also managed 500 Senior Card Club for 18 years. She worked as a dental receptionist in her brother’s dental office for 13 years. She enjoyed life at their lake home with her husband. She is survived by her daughter Susan Gaetze, son Thomas and wife Jan Scearcy, brother Jerry Thoreson, 4 grandchildren, Lori, Jill, Chad, Todd, and 3 great-grandchildren, Matt, MacKayla, Carly. She was preceded in death by her husband G. Laverne in 1986, parents, sister Thelma Crawford.
