Condolences and service information may be found at www.spencerowen.com ARVID is the son of Verd Floyd Classon and Alice Mae (Sheely) Classon. He went to country school in Pilot Grove, MN, through 8th grade and graduated from Granada High School in 1946. Arvid then took accounting courses at Austin Junior College. He worked in cost accounting and office management at Fairmont Canning Company from 1947-1952, and then joined the Army. Stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, for two years during the period of the Korean War. He married Bonita Jane Holtz on June 3,1949 at First Presbyterian Church, Winnebago; June 3, 2011 would have marked 62 years of marriage for the couple. Arvid was wonderful with details and numbers, having a very analytical mind, he continued his career at Stokely Van Camp and United Foods after leaving military service. He had a committed attitude about life that created many other lasting relationships; He remained a member of the American Legion in Winnebago; a life long avid collector of antiques and coins; Treasurer for Riverside Cemetery for 25 years; Treasurer for the Memorial Fund at Presbyterian Church Winnebago; a member of Presbyterian Men’s Group; and on the Presbyterian Session as Delegate. Arvid could explain eloquently what being Presbyterian was all about. He was not only a stable rock of the community but in his home; 25 plus years of pictures, scrapbooks, and card collections made him known and loved by family and friends. Every Christmas Arvid and Bonnie would pull out the dining room table and put out boxes of beautiful cards for friends and neighbors to choose from, a tradition in the community that dates back 50 years. Arvid did two crossword puzzles every day of the year, he never missed a night! He was a man of ideals, a strong sense of community, and dedication. ARVID is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Winnebago; his brothers, Howard (Alla Lea) Classon, Rose Creek, MN, and Gary (Eileen) Classon, Lakeland, MN; his sister, Verna (Dennis) Johnson, Owatonna, MN; his sister-in-law, Helen Roe, Winnebago; his aunt, Viola Sheely, Fairmont; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. ARVID is preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Stanley and Emma Holtz; his niece, Barbara Wagner; his brother-in-law, Wilber Roe; and other relatives and friends.
