Shirley Pettit, age 73, of Winnebago, died Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital, Mankato, Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at 10:30 AM, at First Baptist Church in Winnebago, with Rev. Tom Butler officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winnebago, . Visitation time will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago, and one hour prior to services at the church. Web tributes may be left at www.pattonfh.com Shirley was born May 20, 1937, at Mason City, Nebraska, the daughter of Logan and Pearl (Mudge) Rice. She was raised in Nebraska and moved to Minnesota when she was 12 where she attended schools. She was married to Eugene Nowak on June 3, 1953 in Winnebago and later divored. She was later married to Earl G. Pettit on September 14, 1967 in Winnebago. Shirley was a waitress in several area restaurants over the years including the Kenny’s Lunch, Vic’s Cafe, and Koffee Kup Cafe. Later she worked at Bud’s Meat Locker. She retired in 1998 from Parker Oaks and helped babysit her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and the Harmony Circle. She enjoyed snowmobiling, baking and family dinners and get-togethers. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Whitlow (& fiancee Steven Worthington) of Winnebago, daughter, Toni Diaz of Winnebago, her son, Keith (Barb) Nowak of Good Thunder, her son, Jerry (Jolyn) Nowak of Snow Hill, Maryland, her son, Randy (Patti) Nowak of Winnebago, her daughter, Tammy Stebakken of Winnebago, her son, Everett (Dulce) Pettit of Winnebago, her step son, Donald (Carol) Pettit of Lake Butler, Florida, her step son, Raymond (Judy) Pettit of Lake Butler, Florida, her step daughter, Joyce (Randy) Fuchs of Blue Earth, her step daughter, June (Glenn) Domes of Colorado, 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, 8 brothers, 5 sisters and 1 great grandson.
